The most important precautions are protecting vials from moisture (which can initiate degradation), light (UV can damage aromatic amino acid residues), and repeated temperature cycling that could compromise the rubber stopper seal. Lyophilized vials should be allowed to warm to room temperature before opening to prevent moisture condensation inside the vial.
