An injection site is the anatomical location where a peptide is administered. Common subcutaneous sites include the abdomen, thigh, and deltoid area; rotating sites prevents lipodystrophy.

The abdomen is the most popular subcutaneous site because it has a large area of accessible fat, is easy to visualize and reach, and has consistent absorption. The outer thigh (vastus lateralis area) and back of the upper arm (tricep region) are secondary alternatives. Site rotation — systematically changing injection location with each dose — is essential to prevent lipodystrophy (fat atrophy or hypertrophy at repeated injection sites), which can alter local absorption and affect research reproducibility.
