How Thymosin Alpha-1 produces these effects
Thymosin Alpha-1 acts on dendritic cells and T-cell progenitors via Toll-like receptor 9 (TLR9) and other innate immune pattern-recognition receptors. It promotes differentiation of naive T cells into Th1 effectors, enhances natural killer cell activity, upregulates MHC class I and II expression, and increases interferon-alpha/gamma production. The net result is enhanced adaptive immunity without promoting inflammatory autoimmune responses.
What Thymosin Alpha-1 is not studied for
It is important to distinguish researched effects from extrapolations. Most Thymosin Alpha-1 data comes from cell and animal models. Human use is typically observational. Thymosin Alpha-1 is not a replacement for medical care or a prescription medication unless specifically indicated.
